We, at Family of Faith, believe the Bible is the infallible, inerrant, inspired Word of God. To the best of our ability, we follow the 66 books, Genesis to Revelation. The Bible is the only true source and the authoritative rule for teaching, rebuking, training, correcting, and edification so that through our faith we may be thoroughly equipped for the work of ministry for the glory of God.
2 Peter 1.20-21, 2 Timothy 3.16-17, Hebrews 4.12, 1 Thessalonians 2.13, Matthew 5.18,
Psalm 119.105, Romans 15.4, Isaiah 40.8
We believe there is only one God existing as three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In His divine nature, He is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and immutable.
Deuteronomy 6.4, Matthew 28.19, Luke 3.22, 2 Corinthians 13.14, John 14.16-17
The invisible part of the godhead, God the Father, is the ultimate Co-Creator and Judge. All things exist for the Father’s glory and to work according to His will.
Colossians 1.15, Matthew 11.27, Romans 8.28, John 6.38-40
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the Co-Creator, the firstborn over all creation. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died in our place as the perfect sacrifice, and rose back to life on the third day. He was witnessed by many and gave proof of His bodily resurrection. Jesus is the Son of God and God, the son.
Colossians 1.15-19, John 1.1, 14; Luke 1.31, 35; 1 Corinthians 15.3-6; Proverbs 30.4
He is also the head of the church. Those who have placed their faith and trust in Him are the body.
Ephesians 1.22-23
The Holy Spirit was present at the creation of all things. He is the promised gift Jesus made at His ascension back into heaven. The Holy Spirit testifies about Jesus, is our comforter, our counselor, and the one who brings conviction of our sin, and helps guide us into the truth.
Genesis 1.2, John 15.26, 2 Corinthians 1.22, John 16.8, Romans 8.26-27, Romans 8.14
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve introduced sin into the world. With that event, all mankind is born with a sin nature, a natural propensity to sin. Thankfully, Jesus came, lived a sinless life, obediently went to the cross to pay the penalty for our sins that we are unable to pay.
Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and offer of forgiveness, as we surrender ourselves to His will and proclaim His death and resurrection, we receive forgiveness for our sins and are adopted into the family of God.
Salvation is found only in Jesus’ sacrifice. Upon receiving the gift of salvation, we begin the lifelong process of sanctification. And as we gain knowledge and understanding of God, we grow in our faith and spiritual maturity.
God desires for all people to repent and come to Him. Those who accept Jesus’ offer of forgiveness will spend eternity in heaven with Him. On the contrary, those who reject following Jesus will be separated from Him and suffer in hell for all eternity.
Genesis 2.16-17, 3.1-7; Romans 5.12-19; Romans 3.23; Ephesians 2.4-9; Acts 4.12
2 Corinthians 5.21; John 3.3,14-18; Romans 10.13; Titus 2.11, 3.4-7, 2 Peter 3.9
We follow two ordinances.
We believe in water baptism by emersion. Water Baptism is not to be taken lightly. It is a proclamation of a serious commitment to of following Jesus. This is a decision that an individual makes proclaiming their salvation. Salvation does not follow baptism. Baptism follows salvation.
Matthew 28.19-20, Acts 2.37-39, Acts 10.47-48, Matthew 3.13-17, 1 Peter 3.21
Communion is an opportunity to obediently follow scriptures as we take the bread that represents the body of Jesus and the juice that represents the blood of Jesus as a reminder of the sacrifice He made on the cross. It is a time to celebrate our salvation and to examine ourselves as we seek to humbly and submissively follow Jesus.
Luke 22.19-20,1 Corinthians 11.23-28
We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are as much for today as they were for the early church believers. As mentioned in scripture, the Holy Spirit empowers us to do things we are unable to do by ourselves. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are given for the purposes of edifying fellow believers and empowering us to be witnesses for Jesus through our lives.
1 Corinthians 12-14, Romans 12
Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. We, the Church are the body, made up of all who are born again. The body has many parts, and each part has their function. When each part works together in obedience to the Head, there is unity and fruit for the glory of God.
All people are born as a creation of God. Only those who have been born again are adopted into the family of God and are children of God.
1 Corinthians 12.12-27, Romans 12.3-8, 1 John 3.10, Colossians 1.18, Romans 8.14-16
Creation
We believe God created the heavens and the earth. In the book of Genesis, we have the framework of God putting everything in place. God always has been and always will be. As the Alpha and Omega, He was before the creation of the heavens and the earth, and He will create the new heavens and new earth.
Genesis 1 and 2, Colossians 1.15-19, Colossians 1.15-17, John 1.1-3
Eschatology
Jesus is coming back again. At a time set and only known by the Father, those alive and born again will be taken from the earth in the blink of an eye. After that, Jesus will physically come to establish His reign on the earth for a period of time. The current earth will be done away with, and a new heavens and new earth will be created by God for His followers to live in for eternity. Those who choose not to follow Christ will be held accountable at the Great White Throne judgement and condemned to the lake of fire.
1 Thessalonians 4.13-5.2, Matthew 24, Luke 21.5-36,
Revelation 1.5b-8, Zechariah 14, 2 Peter 3.9-10, Revelation 21,
Matthew 12.36-37, Hebrews 9.27-28, Matthew 25.31-46
Ecclesiastes 12.13-14
13 Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
